Jennifer Tancin, MS, CAS

Jennifer Tancin is in her final year as a doctoral student (PsyD) at the University at Albany, SUNY School Psychology program. She has a master’s degree (MS) in educational psychology and a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in school psychology. Jennifer specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families and has experience providing services across school settings in New York's Capital Region.

Jennifer has provided individual and group counseling to youth experiencing a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), autism spectrum disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She enjoys helping children and teens build coping skills, strengthen social relationships and improve self-confidence. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and individualized, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-based practices.

Through her experience in school settings, Jennifer has developed a strong understanding of how academic, social, emotional, and environmental factors influence a child's learning and well-being. She values collaborating with families, educators, and other professionals to support children across the systems that shape their development.

In addition to providing therapy, Jennifer has experience conducting comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations. Her assessment work focuses on understanding students' cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral functioning to gain insights into a child’s strengths, challenges inform individualized recommendations that support their success at home, in school, and in the community.
