Affordable Therapy for Children and Teens
Affordable Therapy for Children and Teens
$50 per session, ages 4 to 16
Cost keeps a lot of families from getting their kids the help the need. Deductibles, copays, waitlists, and the general math of raising children add up fast. We wanted to do something about that.
Our reduced-fee program offers therapy for children and teens ages 4 to 16 at $50 per session, provided by Jennifer Tancin, our doctoral psychology intern.
What is a psychology intern?
Jennifer is in the final year of her doctoral training program in psychology. She has already completed years of graduate coursework and supervised clinical work with children and families, and she is now finishing the last supervised step before earning her degree.
What that means for your family: she brings current training in the newest evidence-based approaches, she carries a deliberately small caseload so each family gets her full attention, and every case is closely supervised by Dr. Jennifer Mayette, our Clinical Director of Therapy. Dr. Mayette reviews the work regularly and helps shape the treatment plan. In practice, your child gets the benefit of two clinicians thinking carefully about their care.
What she works with
Anxiety and worry, OCD treated with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), sadness and low mood, big behaviors and meltdowns, school stress, friendship and social struggles, family changes, and building the coping skills that make the rest of childhood easier. Younger children work through play-based approaches. Older kids and teens use approaches like cognitive-behavior therapy adapted to what they actually need. Parents are part of this. You will hear about progress and get practical tools to use at home.
The practical details
$50 per session paid at the time of service. The initial session is $65 and includes development of your child’s treatment plan. This is a private-pay program, so insurance is not billed. Ages 4 to 16 in person in Delmar and Latham, and by telehealth anywhere in New York.
Spots are limited. Because the caseload stays small on purpose, we can only take a handful of families at a time. If the timing does not work out, tell us anyway. We will let you know when a spot opens and talk with you about other options in the meantime.
